Free Importation of Machinery WASHINGTON Juno 12Senator Washburn proposed an amendment to the tariff bill which was referred to the committee on finance providing pro-viding for the free importation until January 11892 of all machinery imported for the al Impored purpose pur-pose of manufacturing beet sugar with a rebate of the duty paid on such machinery imported since January 11S90 The Senate commerce committee practically completed the river and harbor bill this afternoon after-noon All money appropriated for the improvement improve-ment of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers rvers respectively is to be expended under the direc ion of and in accordance witn plans adopted by the river commissions The amount appropriated appro-priated for the Mississippi river is 5o forth for-th Missouri river from the mouth to Sioux City 5900000 from Sioux City to Great Falls 8350000 As reported by the committee the bill is i about three million dollars in excess of the House bill Senator Allison to day reported the legisla tive executive and judicial appropriation bill The bill as it passed the House carried a total 5313470 of 20812447 The Senate committee added 1347u
