Show Final Services Over hpureeons Remains JnrJeonl I LONDON Feb nFinal services over the remains of Rev Mr Spurgeon were held at the Tabernacle today Several I members of the commons Baroness Bur dettCoutts and deputations from sixty religious bodies were among those present The services were simple and touching Roy Mr Pierson American minister I made a most eloquent address at the conclusion con-clusion of which the remains were taken to 1 the cemetery The Tabernacle and streets Ion I-on the way to the cemetery were crowded 1 I with people Flags were displayed along I the route followed by the procession at halfmast Places of business between I I Kensington and Chapham were closed and manj houses had the blinds drawn I I Them was an Immense crowd in Nor wood cemetery awaiting the arrival of the I I funeral procession The collin was taken I from the hearse and borne to the vault This vault will be surmounted by a bronze gtatuo of Spurgeon and upon it will be placed bas reliefs symbolic of the dead ministers benevolent works Rev Archibald Archi-bald C Brown pastor of the East London tabernacle delivered the funeral oration at the cemetery Rev Mr Pierson then offered prayer and Bishop Davidson of Rochester pronounced the benediction After the religious services were relgious servics concluded con-cluded the people formed in line and slowly filed before the open vault end I took a last look |
