Seegmil lerMr Mr Nibley moved that a special committee of three be appointed to make arrangements for printing the minutes and other matters of the convention Mr Caine suggested that as the newspapers printed all the minutes or reports of the proceedings that were necessary of their own volition voli-tion as matters of news he should oppose using any persons money for this purpose The original motion was so amended and carried Mr Hatch asked if committee rooms could be obtained for the use of the members of the several committees com-mittees Mr Stout felt like leaving the chairmen of the several committees to their ingenuity to hunt their own woodpiles on which to deliberate The chair appointed C W Nib ley Abram Hatch and J RWinder as the committee on printing Mr Le Grande Young moved that when we adjourn we meet in not less than three days as in his opinion that time would be necessary neces-sary to do the work entrusted to the committees Mr Hatchs views were that the longer the time allowed the less work would be done in the same amount of time as would be consumed con-sumed in short adjournments hence he amended by moving to adjourn until tomorrow at 2 pm Mr Pack favored the amendment to adjourn over until tomorrow Mr Young pressed his motion He considered the subject one of gravity and no childs matter it required re-quired study and time There may I be some members of the convention competent to report in a shore time but he thought the majority were not so able and competent We are not expecting a simple crude instrument instru-ment but one that will bear scrutiny and receive the approbation of the itizens of the territory Mr W C Brvan moved as a compromise com-promise an adjournment until Friday Fri-day at 10 am llr Thurman favored adjourning until 2 p in Thursday as he thought there were committees who I would be prepared to report and it was preferable have one or two reports of committees to consider atone at-one time than a large batch of them The motion that wlien adjournment adjourn-ment was taken it be until 2 p m on Thursday was carried Mr Rawlins moved that the 13 thirteen chairmen of committees form one standing committee of the whole and consider and report to the convention Mr Biter moved that the committee commit-tee be entrusted with the power of revision Mr Hatch thought it a useless committee The motion was carried Mr Booth gave notice that tomorrow to-morrow afternoon he would present a motion to adopt the rules of the late Legislative Assembly Mrs Jb3 J3 Wells moved as Mrs E Howaid was unavoidably absent that Mrs Sarah Ann Kimball be placed in her stead on the committee commit-tee on ordinances and bill of rights Carried Mr Caine from the committea on credentials reported that Mr Cox of Emery County was form n q ally elected but as the ctiz 4 f I Eleasant Valley acted in god tn h in electing Mr Williams he in t ed that Mr Williams Itgndmi ul l n the floor as an honorary m inber Carried I Mr Stout was anxious to gtt work and as lie seldom got in that mooff he moved to adjourn Mr Wells moved that as Mrs Howard was absent and there was an alternate elected to reconsider the motion placing Mrs Kimball > 1 the committee as he desired SxU 1 Lake County to have a full representation repre-sentation Mr Penrose opposed the motion The lady elected as alternate was not present and as she has declined one position offered her in the convention con-vention she may decline another Mrs Wells stated that Mrs Howard was only temporarily absent ab-sent and she Mrs W was posted on the position of the lady suggested sug-gested as alternate and was able to say that she Would accept no position posi-tion in this convention Mr Richards opposed the motion j as he was informed that the lady alternate al-ternate had stated her wishes to be excused from the convention The convention adjourned until Thursday at 2 oclock pm Benediction by the chaplain |
