Show I II I tom 1 J t The Str t i gi f r I i I On the evening of the nth iust The Strategists JIihi di s splendid splen-did comedy will be givin at the Theatre for one night only j this piece has been given her before and was immensely eujoyed ID is i a comedy well worth seeing and is i well played We give an extract regarding it j The audience at the Strategist I last evening were agreeably enter i gained and laughter and applause nth the genuine ring to it were constant The farce is nonsense but clever in its line with a central idea sufficiently strong to surround it with intrigue and employing many amusing types of character The dialogue which is never for any length of time in any ones mouth is bright modern and full of catchphrases catch-phrases To this production is wedded a very good company its members being able and responsible members of the profession Mr Jce Polk is an excellent comedian rarely selfconscious and thoroughly thor-oughly versatile though with occasional occa-sional reminiscences of George Washington Phipsin the Bankers Daughter and the teL or in French Flats His every appearance f strengthened his hold and he received re-ceived much applause Mr Linden as Major Howard played the part with dry humor very effectively and Mr Aiken was excellent Mr Sam E Ryan an old Albany favorite favor-ite and former manager of the old Tiimble his occupancy ending when that theatre was burned was the Terrance OFlam He played with good brcgue unflagging spirit and was cordially received Miss Gilbert was good and Miss Bates very satisfactory The play and company are both enjoyable and will draw largely I |
