Show Seriously Injured About 10 oclock Monday very serious accident occurred which is due to that old and long standing complaint the absence of lights on North Temple street At the hour in question Mr Geo D Schell was going home The night was very dark and it was absolutely impossible impossi-ble to see the bridge across City Creek until a person was on it Mr Schell was just crossing the bridge when a man on horseback dashed up from the opposite direcMon and knocked Mr Schell backward He struck on the back of his head and the fall and preceding blow from the horse rendered him insensible The man on horseback appreciated the fact that he had injured someone some-one and cried out to some persons hemet he-met a distance down the street telling tell-ing them that he had knocked a man down on the bridge but that bis mother was dying and he had to rush for a doetor The parties spoken to hastened to Mr Schells assistance and carried him home about a block The telephone was used but no doctor could be secured for a long time Notwithstanding the boasted sacrificing nature of the disciples of the noble profession several who were solicited to make a visit to the insensible man replied re-plied that they were indisposed and could not do so and let the victim of the accident suffer Finally Drs Young and Fowler were secured and attended at-tended Mr Schell He was very badly bruised and the gravel had cut the back of his heid frightfully His lip also was very badly injured and he was otherwise seriously bruised The doctors performed the necessary services and Mr Schell recovered consciousness His friends will be pleased to learn that his injuries are not at all dangerous |
