The government of this nation na-tion has, over the years, says Mrs. Wadsworth, encroached upon the liberties of man asserting as-serting the right to declare rights that it has no right to declare. THE GOVERNMENT has further assumed powers that were stripped from government govern-ment at the time of the writing writ-ing of these famous documents. Mrs. Wadsworth states that government, today, is rapidly continuing its movement to assume "Responsible Government." CURRENT government, both federal and state, are assuming the middle-of-the-road policy and the planned economy or new deal policy. These policies are interven-tionism. interven-tionism. They are socialistic procedures, says Mrs. Wadsworth. Wads-worth. These methods of procedure are a direct antithesis an-tithesis to the Declaration of Independence and of the Constitution. Con-stitution. UTAH voters, says Mrs. Wadsworth, should be especially cautious of legislative legisla-tive actions to control utility costs, to direct land use, and especially to determine personal per-sonal rights. People should remember that what the government has the power to give, it has the power to take away. CITIZENS ot the United States have already had much experience in interventionist policies that burden the people with subsidy costs and higher taxes to support these costs. Mrs. Wadsworth feels that a positive effort needs to be made to change the public syndrome that accepts and expects government interven-tionism. interven-tionism. Greater free enterprising en-terprising activities need to be encouraged and developed. CAPITALISM needs to have an airing, a new and greater appreciation, for it was only through capitalism that our country has grown to its great position in the world. It is the only way that the country can maintain that position. Mrs Wadsworth feels that development of the waterways water-ways and natural resources in the state, through private enterprise, en-terprise, is the American Way to a greater state productivity and strength. |
