As each of the honored guests rived they were presented with beautiful rose corsages. Dinner was served from a long table centered with cut fall flowers flow-ers and with white tapers in pottery pot-tery holders lighting the scene. At each guest's place gifts were found- The honored girls were LaRhea Nielsen, Shirley Bagley, Jane Strong, Lorraine Daley, and Phyllis Phyl-lis Boyer. Members attending were Doris win?, Berniece Chader, Melba Whitney, Jane Wainwright, LaRae Thorpe, Maurine Childs, Shirley Barrett, Mary Cameron, Kathleen Metcalf, and Luella Huntington. PVR4XADA CLUB MEMBERS HONORED MERLENE TEW who left Friday for Washington, D C, where she will be a student dietitian, at a delightful party held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Mildred Larsen. Luncheon was served early in the evening from small tables centered cen-tered with cut fall flowers. Miniature Minia-ture flower baskets as favors marked places for the guests. Hearts were played as the diversion di-version of the evening with high score prize going to Virginia Sim-kins Sim-kins and consolation prize to Virginia Vir-ginia Rivers. Many beautiful handkerchiefs were presented to the guest of honor as parting gifts by the following fol-lowing members who were present: pres-ent: Mary Boyer, LaVern Singleton, Single-ton, Dorothy Richardson, Fern Ostler, Virginia Simkins, and Mildred Mil-dred Larsen. Special guests were Beth Butler, Helen Strong, and Lucille Weight. AN ENJOYABLE PARTY WAS HELD AT LUKE'S HOT POTS Sunday with the following attending: attend-ing: Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Packard and son, Bob, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Ida-ho; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Child, Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hill, Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. Beulah Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Mel-vin Mel-vin Haymond, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Childs, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Childs, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Whiting, and Venice Whiting of Springville. A nuptial event of interest is the marriage of Miss Miriam Duke, daughter of Mrs. Roy Duke of Provo, to Fred Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jensen of Maple-ton. Maple-ton. Bishop Walter P. Whitehead performed per-formed the ceremony at the home of the bride in the presence of the immediate families. Attired in a sport model of soldier sol-dier blue, the bride wore a corsage of gardenias and rosebuds and was attended by Mary Duke, Evelyn Snyder, and Fern Butler, bridesmaids. brides-maids. The bridesmaids wore gla-diola gla-diola corsages. Mrs. Duke and Mrs. Jensen wore corsages of gardenias. Melvin Duke was best man. Following the ceremony, refreshments refresh-ments were served and a short program provided entertainment. Following a short honeymoon trip, the couple will make their home in Mapleton. A number of parties honoring the bride have been given during the week. Mrs. Roy Duke and Mary Duke entertained at the home of the former Tuesday night with approximately thirty guests attending. Mrs. Joseph Jensen entertained at Mapleton in honor of Miss Duke. Entertainment included a story, "A Letter to Edith,", given by Mrs. Gertrude Clements,, and musical numbers. Refreshments were served to thirty-five guests. MRS. PETERSON CELEBRATED HER 85th BIRTHDAY mid a host of relatives and friends Sunday, with an open house reception re-ception at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson. A delightful program of music entertained the guests, who called j during the afternoon to extend best wishes to the guest of honor. Receiving Re-ceiving were the sons, daughters, and daughters-in-law. Tasty refreshments were served serv-ed from a beautifully - decorated table, which held as a centerpiece a gorgeously decorated birthday cake in colors of white, pink, and green. On either side were tall white tapers in crystal holders. A profusion of lovely summer flowers, flow-ers, many of which were special gifts to the guest o fhonor, decorated decor-ated the entertaining rooms. Nearly Near-ly 200 friends, relatives and neighbors neigh-bors called during the afternoon. |
