Show Funeral Services Held Tuesday For J. A. Leslie Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Tuesday afternoon in the Third-Ninth ward church for J. A. Leslie, 79, former city police officer, and retired steel and copper worker who died Saturday at the family residence resi-dence 380 No. 2nd West following fol-lowing a long illness. Bishop Bliss Packard was in charge. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by , Wheeler Wheel-er Mortuary. Mr. Leslie was born March 18, 1879 in Ft. Green, a son of Andrew and Dorothy Christen-sen Christen-sen Leslie. He received his education ed-ucation in the schools of Ft. Green and also attended BYU He married Gilda Paxton on March 18, 1919 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Leslie was a member of the LDS Church holding the office of elder.' He worked as a general mill foreman fore-man for the Utah Copper Company Com-pany at Magna for 20 years. (Continued on Page 2, Col. 4) Funeral Services Held For J. A. Leslie (Continued from Page One) Later he transferred to another copper company at Albany, British Columbia, then to the United Verde Copper Co. at Parksdale, Ariz. He moved to Springville in 1932, and for a number of years was employed as town Marshal. He also worked for Geneva Steel Co. until his retirement. re-tirement. Surviving are his widow and six children, Mrs. Dale (Isabel) Hardy, Mrs. Jack (Elorea) Cooksey and Mrs. Lee (Eva Carol) Robertson of Springville; Spring-ville; William Leslie of Las Vegas, Nev.. and twin sons, Tad Leslie with the U. S. Army at Fort Ord, Calif., and Ted Leslie with the U. S. Navy at Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren, grand-children, one brother and one sister, John Leslie of Ferron and Mrs. Olive Llewellyn of Salt Lake City. |
