Show HEALTH REPORT IS ENCOURAGING State health officers reported a total of 707 cases of communicable communica-ble diseases for the week ending Feb. 25, which is 119 cases fewer than were reported for the previous previ-ous week. That the epidemic of mild influenza influ-enza has not completely subsided is indicated by the reporting of 316 cases of this disease. Twenty-three cases of pneumonia pneumo-nia were reported, which is the same number as was reported for the previous week. The number of cases of scarlet fever declined from 158 to a total of 139. It is encouraging to note that no cases of diphtheria, epidemic meningitis, smallpox, nor typhoid fever were reported and only nine cases of whooping cough. The totals for the week were as follows: chickenpox, 63; poliomyelitis, poliomye-litis, 1; influenza 316; measles, 48, German measles, 11; mumps, 78; pneumonia, 23; scarlet fever 139; whooping cough, 9; gonorrhea, 6; syphilis, 10; silicosis, 1; and rheumatic rheu-matic fever, 2. |
