Show Funeral Rites for Silas E. Adams Held Last Friday Funeral rites were conducted Friday in the Highland Ward Chapel Cha-pel for Silas E. Adams, who died instantly in an automobile-train accident on August 28. The impressive services began at 1 p.m. with Bishop Merlyn Larson, presiding. Invocation was offered by Carl F .Day, president of the Elders Quorum cf the Highland High-land Ward. A vocal duet "God Understands" was sung by Thayne Bateman and Ronald Strong, accompanied by Maureen Bateman. A brief life sketch of the departed was given by Burton H. Adams, a cousin. Speakers were Joseph S. Walker, Walk-er, former bishop of Pleasant Grove Third Ward, Bishop LeGrand Adamson, Ad-amson, and both paid tribute to the dead man and his family and emphasized his humorous nature, his ability to promote laughter and dispel gloom. Musical numbers were a vocal duet "Beyond the Sunset," by Mary Deveraux and Elsie Ringger, accompanied ac-companied by Janiel Fugal. Prior to the church service, former for-mer Bishop Calvin Walker offered prayer at the mortuary. Prelude and postlude organ music was played by Glenna Fae Buhler. Benediction was offered by Leonard Leon-ard J. Hyde and interment, directed direct-ed by Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary, was made in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery where J. Clarence Hilton offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers, all nephews, were Arthur Adams, Leonard Kelly, Thomas Larson, Richardi Adams, Nathan Adams, Floyd Adams. Highland Ward Relief .Society cared for and arranged the floral offerings. |
