Show MARY IVA H. NELSON Funeral services to be held today for Mrs. Iva Nelson Mary Iva Houchen Nelson died June 28 at the Valley View Medical Center of natur-al natur-al causes. . She was the daughter of Mary Louise Elliker and William Wil-liam Houchen. She was born Sept.; 3, 1891, the fourth child in a -family of 12 children, in tedar City where she has resided all her life. She attended Cedar City schools and was active in various var-ious civic organizations including in-cluding the American. Legion Auxiliary, Iron County Red Cross and Daughters- of. the Utah Pioneers. She was also a member of the MBW Club, a social organization. Mrs. Nelson was an active member of the Cedar Third Ward of the LDS Church. She has served as a primary teacher, a counselor to three Relief Society presidents and has been a Relief Society visiting vis-iting teacher for nearly 60 years. She was a devout temple tem-ple worker for many years. She married Arthur Nelson Oct. 11, 1919 in Cedar City. The marriage was later solemnized sol-emnized in the St. George LDS Temple. He died March 14, 1960. They were the parents of four sons William Albert, Lu Dean, Arthur (Ted) and Douglas Doug-las Houchen Nelson (deceased) (deceas-ed) all of Cedar City. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Wallace D., Rosemead, Calif.; Charles LeRoy, Cedar City; Mrs. Elmer (Verlyn) Jones, Hollywood, Calif.; and Mrs. Rebecca Goudge, Cedar City. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, at 2 p. m. in the Cedar Third Ward Church. Friends may call at the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary from 12 noon till time of services. Burial will be In the Cedar City cemetery. |
