Show Parowan Civic And Church Worker Dies Funeral services were held In Parowan Friday aft moon for Kate Taylor, 66, prominent civic and church worker of that community, who served as Iron County Record-?r Record-?r for eighteen yars. Miss Taylor lied at the Iron county hospital jn Tuesday. May 7Ji, of a cerebral h morhage. She had been 111 for about two months. Miss Taylor was born in Parowan, October 22, 1879, a daughter of George and Maria Coombs Taylor, early settlers In Parowan, and spent her entire life there. After attending attend-ing school at the Branch Normal In Cedar Cltyi, she began her public life as a school teacher In 1903, remaining re-maining In that profession until 1916, and served as a member of the county board of education for several years. In 1917 she was elected Iron County Recorder and continued in that position for 18 years. She also served as a'cretary of thi Library Board for a number num-ber of years. Active In church affairs she served as a counsellor and later as president of the Ward M. I. A. for many years, and also worked In the Ward Sunday School and Stake Primary for a number of years. She Is survived by her mother, two brothers, Oeorge O. Taylor. New York City, and Frank E. Taylor, Tay-lor, Parowan; a foster brother, Taylor Parkinson, Benjamin, Utah; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie T. Anderson, An-derson, Salt Lake City, and Eva Taylor, Parowan. |
