Show Death Claims Donald Jones Donald DeWayne Jones, founder and president of the Bountiful Golden Years Jazz Band, died Sept. 30, 1981 of heart failure. He played drums for the band which performed for elementary schools and convalescent homes in the area. BEFORE COMING to Bountiful in 1977. he lived in Brea. Calif, where he played the base wash tub in the Fuller-ton Fuller-ton Kitchen Band and took part on the Ted Mack and Lawrence Welk shows. They were also a guest 0f Norma Mi ' DONALD DeWAYNE JONES Zimmer. Don was converted to the LDS faith in 1979 and became an elder at the age of 81. He was born Dec. 27, 1898 in Zanesville, lnd. on the family farm. He attended DePau University, Uni-versity, lnd. and became a 40 year pioneer retiree of Pacific Telephone, Anaheim in 1963. DON FIRST married Lucile Small of Dearborn, Mich.; second, Helen Garlock of Anaheim and third Iva Carey Halm of Brea. Calif. He was widowed in 1975. He is survived by two sons, Malcolm DeWayne, San Diego, Calif, and Michael De-Wayne, De-Wayne, Bishop, Calif.; daughter daugh-ter H. Patricia Hartman, Bountiful; sisters, Mary Hansen, Han-sen, Boca Ratan, Fla.; Fern Longthorne, Toledo, Ohio, and Helen Nyquist, Dearborn, Mich; seven grandsons and one great-grandson. SERVICES WERE held Oct. 2, 1981 at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful Bounti-ful with Donald U. Hartman giving the family prayer; prelude pre-lude and postlude music by Jean Nelson; invocation, Michael Jones; speakers, Bishop Dean R. Cannon, Del Ernest Jensen. Two vocal solos were given by Barbara Orton; benediction by Malcom Jones. A graveside services and interment in-terment was at Memory Garden Gar-den in Brea, Calif, on Oct. 5 with Robert Bingham officiating officiat-ing and speaking; dedication of the grave by Gale Hartman. |
