Show Fair prepares neighbors for emergencies WEST BOUNTIFUL--A "Preparedness Fair was held for a small neighborhood on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. It was held in the cul de sac located at 1888 N. 775 W. and its purpose was to help prepare the neighborhood for the possibility of disasters and emergencies. The agenda included Wayne Jep-pson, Jep-pson, West Bountiful chief of police, who assisted in setting up a neighborhood watch; Terry Olsen, from the South Davis Fire Dept., who presented safety and fire prevention necessities; Davis Badham, P.A., who gave blood pressure checks; and earthquake and 72-hour kit information, films and pamphlets were available. Smaller groups in the neighborhood held 'block parties' to socialize and get better acquainted ac-quainted with each other. They also became more aware of each others needs and skills. The people involved feel that this 'Preparedness Fair' is an important beginning in preparing people as neighborhoods to face any emergencies that might arise. They also hope that this fair will continue annually and serve as an example for other motivated communities. |
