Show '88 Primary election will be held Tuesday By GARY R. BLODGETT 1 Davis County voters will go to the polls next Tuesday (Sept. 13) to vote for their favorite candidates in the 1988 Primary Election. Polls throughout the county will be open from 7a.m. Tuesday p.m., according to County Clerk Glen E. Saunders. A complete 'ist of polling places appears in this issue of the Clipper. The list of candidates will be narrowed to one candidate for each partisan office and two candidates for each non-partisan (school district) office up for election. In each case, voters will cast their ballot for only one candidate for each office. For further information about the listing of candidates or polling sites in any voter district, contact the County Clerk's Office in the Davis County Courthouse, 451-3213 or 451-3206. On the partisan side of the ticket, only the Republicans will have candidates to be nominated to the General Election ballot in November. Six offices have opposition while three school district seats will have the number of candidates reduced to two for the General Election ballot. , In the partisan race for State Senate District 23 to serve south Davis County, former State Representative John P. There will be Primary Election races in three State Representative Represen-tative districts throughout the county. In District 14, D.J. Fisher will oppose Scott W. Holt. Walt Bain will seek re-election against Don S. Redd, former Farming-ton Farming-ton City Council member in District 17; and Nancy Sonntag Lyon will oppose former County Attorney Loren D. Martin in District 20. Incumbent Harold J. Tippetts and former Sheriff Dub Lawrence Lawr-ence will compete for the General Election ballot in the two-year two-year race for County Commission and Margene Ison and recently recent-ly appointed clerk Glen E. Saunders will run for the county clerk four-year seat. Seven candidates will be vying for the two top vote-getting f posts in the race for Precinct One of the Davis School District. V The non-partisan candidates are Lucene C. Hougaard, Steven Thorsen, Wayne O. Westergard, Theodore E. Kanell, Ray Briscoe, Bris-coe, and Pau! T. McGarry. In Precinct No. 2, there will be only three candidates, one of whom will be eliminated from the General Election race. Candidates Candi-dates are Dan R. Eastman, Matt Gait, and Shauna Kakaya. Seven candidates will seek the General Election ballot for the School District Board of Education representing Precinct No. 3. They are Hyrum W. Smith, Dennis B. Knoles, Newell J. Law, Lynn L Summerhays, Edrice Christensen, Stan Gardner, and J. David Potter. |
