There aro of courso many opinions about the fitness and becomingness of men's eluthos, but ono thing is certain that it will bo a long, long da3- before thy avorago man can bo converted to the idea of changing his plain clothca for niffloH. Of course, most married women know that it is hard enough to get any gentle married man into evening clothes as it is, but to put him into a pair of velvot knickerbockers with dainty ruffles ruf-fles around their lower edges will be worth calling a struggle. Tt may well be argued that in viow of tho fact that women go "all to pieces" over (heir drotfsfliakcrsj' doings, that more oncrgj-aud oncrgj-aud ncrvo forco arc expanded over one i evening frock than r man puts into lhc whole subject of clothes for a year, and that when all is said and done tiiiMi'b clothes aro surely as atlractio, as tho3 go, as wornou's, but tho rumor still persists that tho roal fashion leaders lead-ers aro making a strenuous effort to change tho stylos. Ono paper says on iho subject: It is roporlod that. Andro dc Foquicres, tbo famous Pariiau dandy, will tour tho Uaitod. According to tho deciiion of foreign tailors' men's dress ha3 at last been pronounced a "gloomy atrocity, a relic of an ago that is dead and should bo forgotten." Thoy suggest that men havo dressed with frumpish lombcrncss iu tho ballroom ball-room loug enough and recommend that in future thoy adopt grocn, red, blue and brown as sensible substitutes for black.
