Show IT GOES OUT I LIKE A LION Ending of March Sees Storms That Are Most Severe WORST FOR MANY YEARS Colorado Nebraska and Other States Suffer Foot of Snow in Denver Clouds of Snow at Leadville Bad at Brighton Brigh-ton TougrU at Glenivood Springs Railway Traffic Will Probably Be Impeded at Many Points Cattle ttlc and Other Stock Must Suffer Greatly Great-ly Damage Done Cannot Xow Be Estimated Denver March 30The snow and wind storm continued all day with unabated un-abated fury I is the worst storm since the memorable one of March Jarch 1891 which continued for three days Heavy thunder and vivid flashes of lightning accompanied the beginning of this storm a feature not usual at this season The velocity of the wind just before daybreak was terrific and but for the heavy wet snow which served to hold things in their places I much damage would no doubt have been done tAt I t-At 520 the wind was blowing at the rate of fortyeight miles an hour but it slowly Increased up to noon when it registered thirtyfour miles A gable of the Columbine schoolhouse school-house was blown out Stones weighing thirtyfive pounds were blown over thirty feet while heavy blocks lay I piled up over eighty feet from the building I The tramway and cable companies I are having great difficulty in moving their cars and many of the street rail way lines are blocked I At 6 p m the snow was about afoot j a-foot deep In this city and it is badly j drifted During the early part of the i day trains on the railroads east and west were running on time but the night trains are considerably delayed and i the storm continues much longer long-er a general blockade will occur The storm is exceptionally severe in western west-ern Colorado Observer Brandenburg says the storm will abate during the I I night and colder weather will follow The storm is rapidly advancing southeastward and tomorrow the indications indi-cations are that Texas and the Gulf catons states will get a touch of I |
