Show LIVE STOCK MOVEMENTS Utah Will Send Out Some Heavy Shipments In order to take advantage of the upward movements in the prices of all classes of cattle several of the growers of this territory are preparing to make shipments onto the eastern markets These will be made as Individuals and the consignments are to go to someone some-one or more of the commission houses The local buyers are also active and endeavoring to gather in some or p 11 of the choise stuff although they are not willing to make any very good prices One of the first shipments of fat cattle to be made was that of the White Sons company which left the Union stock yards yesterday morning and was made up of four carloads of prime steers from the Tooele country Manager Haywood claimed that the average weight would be in the near neighborhood of 1400 pounds but others who saw the cattle say the average will not be so high L A Doane also sent out one carload of fat stuff from the yards and at Echo he loaded two more carloads This shipment Is to go to Kansas City and Omaha Some days ago Thomas Keogh purchased pur-chased part of the cattle received by J R Hickman from the Ryan Ream herds and is to make shipment to the north country where the stock will be fed and ranged in preparation for marketing in the fall or next spring Some 400 head are to be loaded at Juab today and on the way north they Wll be held at the Union stock yardj in order that they may feed and rest It is also probable that the bunch will be branded there Sheep Going Ennt Early in the week J M Jensen of Brigham City will ship 3000 head of fat sheep onto the Chicago market He has been feeding 10000 head of the mutton Jn Malad valley ail winter and now prjpoies to take adantag2 of the recent advance in prices Later the remaining 7000 head Fill ba also 1 moved east Mr Jensen cfimatos that the 3000 head shipment will sell for over 15000 15000Worlc Worlc For Shearers On Friday J C Cutler informed a Brigham City Bugler reporter that next week eighteen Brigham boys will start for Boise Idaho to shear sheep They have contracted to handle 25000 I sheep up there They are offered 10000 j more and will accept the offer providing I pro-viding they can do the work and reach I Wyoming by May 1st Here they have i a second big flock of 25000 When these are fleeced the crowd will hie themselves them-selves up Into Montana to shear their 1 third flock of 25000 making 75000 i sheep they will shear this year It is quite probable the total number will I reach 100000 They will take off some 75000 worth 01 wool The value of the sheep that will pass through their hands will be upwards of 300000 The boys will earn about 2000 in wages Union Stock Yards Receipts It wa not a very heavy week with the Union stockyards the total receipts to yesterday being 540 head of livestock live-stock Of these 207 head were cattle 180 head were sheep and 153 head were hogs With the exception of 151 head of cattle all of the stock were consumed con-sumed by the local markets The number num-ber of cattle mentioned went on to the eastern markets Was si Great Hog I James Nelson of Three Mill Creek II has just sold to the Ogden Packing company one of the heaviest hogs the territory has produced receiving 4550 for it The porker weighed 904 pounds and rendered 563 pounds of lard |
