Show VIKINGV1E,. These students received straight "E" report cards for the second quarter thus placing their names on the honor roll. Helen Henrichsen, Kathleen West, Byron Carter, Beth Beveridge, Joye Fage, Hazel Hardman, Hediko Inabu, Ranee Nielsen, Ward Burke, Wilford Howard, Jean Anderson, Fern Carlson, Carl-son, Joyce Clark, Ruby Davis, Beth Gillman, Bliss Jarvis, Anna Rose McMillan, Carol Smith, -Jeneall Thome, Dena Tomlinson, Verla Tomlinson, Garth Gillman and Kenneth Rogers. Junior High: Joyce Fugal, Alta Mae King, Maxine Nelson, Shirlee West, JoAnn West, Tomo Inabu, Dawn Marie Adams, L. Jean Olsen, Grant Anderson, Ruth Beck, Phyllis Nelson, Eloise Richards, and Irene Warnick. DEBATE TOURNAMENT Pleasant Grove high school is very pleased with the debate contest held at Weber college February 28, and March 1. The debating class was successful in placing two teams in the semi finals, and final rounds. Helene Burke and Ellen Richins made a very fine showing in the tournament, but were finally eliminated elimi-nated in the next to the last round of the finals by a team from Green River, Wyoming, which had already won national and state honors before be-fore attending this tournament. Tyler Rogers and Harvey Christiansen Chris-tiansen were successful in the first day of debating, and were not eliminated elimi-nated until the second day. All members of the class were successful in winning some contests, and they feel that the efforts put forth to attend the contest were entirely worth while. All members are looking look-ing forward with enthusiasm to future contests which will be held during the remainder of this debating debat-ing season. P. G. BEATS LINCOLN Pleasant Grove's Vikings beat a visiting Lincoln team Friday, by a score of 40-26. The Vikings quickly grabbed a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter, the score being 17-7. As the second period got under way, the Lincoln team out scored the P. G. boys, and the half score was 23-17 for the local boys. Going into the second half the Vikings soon recovered their former lead and added to it as the game progressed; thus making the final score read 40-26. The game put the . Vikings in a deadlock with Provo, for second place. MOVING PICTURE SHOW In order to acquire funds for the purchasing a new light in P. G.'s high school auditorium, Mr. Dan Peterson, speech teacher, sponsored a moving picture last week. The screen and projector from the local CCC camp were used, and the picture "The Road To Singapore," Singa-pore," was shown. The CCC boys also presented some numbers; a quartet sang, and the CCC Hill Billies played instruments. A real tobacco auctioneer gave a demonstration on the art of auctioneering. auction-eering. These boys were very cooperative coop-erative and their aid was greatly appreciated. Their efforts were a great help in furthering the cause for the betterment of school dramatics. drama-tics. A. F. EXCHANGES ASSEMBLY Another exchange assembly from American Fork was presented in Pleasant Grove high school, last Friday, under the direction of A. F.'s student body. The Girls' Glee, under the able direction of Mr. K. J. Bird rendered several very beautiful numbers. Readings were given, and musical solos. Miss Charlotte Chip-man Chip-man sang a solo, and the Misses Gwen Nielson and Norma Bowen tap-danced. Donna Clcghorn gave an accordian solo. Erwin Chipman acted as master of ceremonies, with the help of Billy Ellison. The student body of Pleasant Grove senior high, greatly appreciated appreciat-ed the fine numbers that were Riven, and the efforts of A. F. students. A show was prcT'Tiled in the Al- hambra Theatre, Wednesday, to the students of Pleasant Grove high school. j The purpose of this show was to I defray hospital expenses of Kelly Giles. The show featured was "Dead End Kids" in "Military Academy." Pleasant Grove high school girls were victorious over the Lehi girls in a basketball game played February Febru-ary 26. The score was 16-20. |
