Show Local Items Mr. and Mrs. Willard Devitt o! Moab, formerly of American Fork, are the proud parents of a baby girl, born Thursday of last week. Mrs. DevlU's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Klllson, motored to Moab Sunday to .see the new arrival. Mrs. Devilt Is Hie former Beth Ellison. Mr. Devitt II, the athletic coach at the high .school in Moab. Mrs. Laura Timpson and Mrs Marie Adams, accompanied by Mr Raymond Adams of Venice, California, Califor-nia, returned home Thursday after a two weeks' visit in California They report having had a wonderful time, although they waded in rain up to their ankles and "had to learn to breathe under water". Mrs, Timpson says "California is O. K., but I choose Utah". They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Timpson Timp-son of Glendale, and Mr. and Mrs. Von Bird of Hollywood. Steven Iiaird, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Iiaird, formerly of American Fork, was one of the winners in the Tribune "Our Intermountain Empire" Em-pire" contest. The Sunday Tribune announced that "Steven T. Balrd, 1HUU Yalecrest avenue, a student at the Uintah school, and Miss Zorka Duicli, school librarian, will each receive re-ceive $10, a special prize." (Miss Duich did the typing for Steven's book.) The work of 2600 boys and girls of high school age or younger was represented in the scrapbook contest, and Steven's friends in American Fork are congratulating him on his success and outstanding work. Members of the Adams camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers will meet Thursday ofternoon, March 13, at the home of Mrs. Alice Beck. The lesson on "Merchandising in Des-eret" Des-eret" will be given by Mrs. Myrtle Seastrand, and the history of John Wootton Sr. will be given by Mrs. Sadie Shepherd. Hostesses for the meeting are Mrs. Beck, Mrs. Maggie Steele, Mrs. Jennie Cunningham, Mrs. Olive Young and Mrs. Maude Wilde. j |
