Show Navy gunner with 7th fleet in west Pacific Navy Gunner's Mate 3rd Class Gaylon Serawop, son of Ralph J. Serawop Sr. of Randlett and Mary S. Serawop of Ft. Duchesne, has departed on a deployment to the Western Pacific. Serawop is a crewmember aboard the destroyer USS Kinkaid homeported in San Diego. While deployed, his ship is operating as a unit of the U.S. 7th Fleet. During the cruise, the Kinkaid is scheduled to participate in training exercises with other 7th Fleet units and those of allied nations. Port visits will be made in various Far Eastern countries. The Kinkaid is 563 feet long and carries a crew of 300. It is armed with guns, missiles, anti-submarine rockets and torpedoes. It is also outfitted with a landing platform for an anti-submarine helicopter. , A 1972 graduate of Union High School, Serawop joined the Navy in August 1972. His wife, Angelina, is the daughter of Vincent Sireech Sr. of Whiterocks, and Edith Sireech of Randlett. |
