Show GAME OF CHESS BY WIRELESS STARTED CHICAGO, April 16. A game of chess played by wireless, believed to be the first on record, between Edward Lasker of Chicago and A. F. Whilaker of Washington, tonight awaited decision decis-ion by J. R. Capalanca, ,pan-Anierican chess champion, as to thev victor. The game started at 8 o'clock last night and ended at 1:25 o'clock this morning. morn-ing. The moves made by the Washington man were telephoned from the capital capi-tal city chess club, to the naval operator oper-ator at the Arlington wireless station. Messages were received at an amateur's ama-teur's station in Evanston, a Chicago Chica-go suburb, and relayed to the Illinois j athletic club. It was declared the game proved to! be much faster than those played by telegraph. oo |
