Well, maybe not, if , you are in the market for the promised 2008 Malibu Hybrid model. The new compelling Malibu Hybrid is one of the most cost-efficient hybrids on the market mar-ket but will only be available avail-able in 11 key markets nationwide for a least the next year and a half. The Malibu itself has a new sleek, streamlined design. The ride also does not disappoint with a quiet, qui-et, smooth, luxury cruising cruis-ing feel that will impress anyone, especially when one takes a look at the price tag. Adding a hybrid model seems to be the next great step, but with the limited availability, it may be a while before you can even think about purchasing purchas-ing one. The M alibu Hybrid sports a "Mild Hybrid System" which in simpler terms equates to a simpler and less expensive hybrid system sys-tem that achieves a modest mod-est improvement in fuel economy when compared to its fuel-loving brothers. The "Mild Hybrid System" basically allows the car to turn itself off when sitting idle in traffic, yet restart itself seamlessly without feeling as though the car was off at all. This system, in essence, makes the Malibu Hybrid a very affordable alternative; alterna-tive; this car is only approximately ap-proximately $1,500 more than equally equipped Mal-ibus Mal-ibus with regular gasoline . motors. It is too bad that the Malibu Hybrid will not x" tM Pacific CREDIT UNION at Covered Bridge (Mile-post (Mile-post 181.9). The motor in the hybrid is d 36-volt electric motor mo-tor "coupled with 2.4 liter Ecotec WT four-cylinder engine and a very smooth four speed transmission. One noticeable issue that comes with the hybrid is a distinct lack of power. If you enjoy a little take off at the stop light, the hybrid is not for you. However, the luxury car feel created so well in the Malibu seemed to take the lead out of our feet and helped us simply enjoy the ride. The interior of the Malibu Mal-ibu only added to the feeling feel-ing that you were driving a high-priced luxury car. It was smooth and simple with nice, large curved lines that seemed to mold around you as you entered the vehicle. The dashboard was nicely laid out and simple to read even with the several different dials monitoring the hybrid system. sys-tem. The only annoyance was a little green "Eco" light that seemed to turn on and off at will, apparently telling the driver when the car was in "green" mode. , Horizon ' "-v.i.v---,.- . h : , fog? As with all new GM vehicles, it came with XM radio and a year's free subscription to the OnStar system as well as a satellite satel-lite phone option. In the end the question that must be answered is, "Is a hybrid vehicle of any type right for me?" That question can only be answered an-swered by each individual consumer and only after a great amount of research done by that individual. As for the Malibu Hybrid in this market, you might not even be able to ask the question. When we asked several local dealers about the car, their replies were, "You have a Malibu Hybrid? Hy-brid? Can we see it?" Despite lack of availability, availabili-ty, if you are in the market for an inexpensive luxury-type luxury-type car, go test drive one of the new Malibus. You won't be disappointed. During construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction di-rection along Highway 6 through the work zone. Traffic barriers have been installed to isolate the construction zone from the travel lanes. In the construction zone, the speed limit has been lowered to 55 MPH for the safety of the motoring motor-ing public and the construction con-struction team. The pipeline will run 2.3 miles underground along the shoulder of Highway 6 west toward Spanish Fork City. Construction of the pipeline will require de-watering de-watering in some areas due to high water tables. ta-bles. A 1,350-foot reach of the pipeline will pass through a high water, table area. This reach of pipeline will be encased in concrete. Special construction con-struction procedures will be required. An emergency isolation isola-tion valve chamber will be constructed near the beginning of the Spanish Span-ish Fork Canyon Pipeline Pipe-line at the mouth of Diamond Fork Creek. The emergency valves will provide the means to close the flow of the pipeline in the event of a major catastrophe in the valley, such as an earthquake, earth-quake, and evacuate the water flowing through the Diamond Fork System Sys-tem into the Spanish Fork River. The second reach of the Spanish Fork Pipeline, Pipe-line, to be constructed in 2010, will transport water to the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and Highway 89 in Spanish Span-ish Fork City, near the mouth of the canyon. Plans have also been made for the future expansion ex-pansion of the pipeline into Utah County. Upon expansion, at the mouth of the Spanish Fork Canyon Reach 2 of the pipeline will branch into three separate pipelines: Vs The Mapleton Springville Pipeline is currently under construction con-struction by Ames Construction Con-struction and scheduled for completion later this month.
