Show (iwanis Donut Sale Is Set For Friday, June 8f Ei Recently an announcement was made by the Roosevelt Kiwanis Club of their intention to conduct a monthly donut sale in the area to raise funds for child welfare activities. According to Orson Stevens, president, the , first of these sales will be held tomorrow, Friday, beginning at 7 a.m. The idea of a Kiwanis donut sale was first tried two years ago as a National Kid's Day fund raising rais-ing activity. It was again done last fall for two Saturdays prior to Kids' Day. Members of the club will call at your house Friday morning to sell you a dozen or more d'onuts, and the funds will be used fcr the various child welfare projects carried car-ried cn by Kiwanis. One is their sixth annual 4-H Dairy Heifer project, wherein some top 4-H kid will receive a dairy heifer calf for outstanding work in 4-H. Last week the club was visited by' their lieutenant governor, Clyde Simpson of Salt Lake. He addressed the group on various phases of the Kiwanis program. Mr- Stevens has announced two delegates and their wives will attend at-tend the International Kiwanis convention at San Francisco this month. They are Pres. Stevens and Cliff Memmott. There may be other members attend. Tonight Kiwanians will entertain enter-tain their wives at a park party. They will see films of the Championship Cham-pionship University of Utah basketball bas-ketball team. |
