Rev Frank lin Spencer Spalding the chaplain of this society than by adopting the words of our gifted compatriot Charles Carroll Goodwin Cut down in the full vigor of a marvelous mental and physical manhood his death is a great shook and sorrow and loss to our commonwealth. Strong physically pure by ia stinct lntelleatually brilliant devoted de-voted to the work of the Master una wed by wealth warm in bis sympathies he strove to make the world happier by reducing the bnr den of its sorrows. He was an example of tb strong vigorous heroic stock which fought the revolutionary war and dedicated this continent to liberty and made it a haven for the oppressed of all climes and nations. na-tions.
