Show GOODYEAR HIS FOR TIMERS These hints for repair men are taken from Jo Eim Cut News the publication for dealers ssued by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber company Akron Ohio When dark coring cement is used n repa ring wh te treads dark lines and marks are left that will spo 1 the appearance of the most workmanlike job Realizing this fact we have for some time past been using a white vulcanizing ce ment in our own repa r department, and with such excellent results that we are add ng t to our regular 1 ne of repair mater al Repair men often turn away trade in motorcycle tire repa rs be cause they can 't repair motorcycle tires without a complete equ p ment of sectional molds This is not necessary Cement two or tbree EJ es of light fabr c on the ins de atten the cas ng out and cure re pa rs on the tube plate Sand bags may be used instead of a r bags in cur ng tread cuts In ternal pressure only is needed aga nst the tread in sneh repa rs For each sect onal mold size one sand bag and one steel bar w 11 be needed The bag should be of heavy canvas shaped 1 ke a com mon salt bag and filled loosely (not packed) with fine sand The steel bar should be of one inch section about a foot long and curved so t 11 fit with n the mold The sand bag s placed w th n the cas ng the cas ng dropped w th n the sect onal mo d and the steel bar la d along the an 1 hag con cave s de p 8 rew down the clamp Rcrew on the mold aga nst the cen ter of the bar Th s spreads out the sand bag and ppl es the nee cssar pressure aga nst the tread It is a good plan to dr 11 a hole or slot in the bar so that the clamp crew can get a gr p |
