Show GIRL WINS SWEEPSTAKES BECOMES UTAH CHAMPION "lYJ" ISS RUTH BYBEE, age 14 who won the sweepstakes championship at the state fair Miss Ruth Bybee of West Point Gets High Average Over All Contestants MISS RUTII BYBEE 14 years of age of West Point Davis coun tj was selected last evening at the state fair as state sweep stake champion from among those girls who had won f rst prizes in the boys and girls club work. The judges were Miss erna Bowman of the Og den high school. Miss Anna Christen sen and Miss Bowen of the Jordan high school. This prize entitles her to a freo ticket to the exposition in California next spring Miss Bybee was selectel for the va riety and quality of her club work having won first place in class B sew ing, first In her arts and crafts work and commendation for her canning work In the h gh school olnb contest Flavi ous Erlckson of the Jordan high school won firBt and fltth places wh ch en title him to a free ticket to the ex position Samuel Crane of the Jordan h gh school won Becond place and Glenn Winn of Ivorth Cache high school won third place The state sweepstake champion bov has not yet been chosen because some of the vields and records have not yet been submitted A number of the boys from various count es of the stat however are in line for th s honor some having grown potatoes others sugar beets, mangel wurrels garden veg etables, ai d some hav ng raised poultry and others pigs Th s prire also en t ties the w nner to a free ticket to the exposition In the poultry contest Sargent Streep er of Centerville won f rst place and Lynn Wh tmore won f nt i r ze in the pig growing contest a d gets a silver cup and free t cket to tl e annual round up at Logan next wii ter |
