Show i SEWING HINTS Before cutting- out thin silk, chiffon, 1 etc., take a large towel or white cloth and tack it over your cutting table, drawing it vory tight. Fasten with small tacks to tho under side of the tbalo. Pin the goods and pattern to this cloth, which holds It firmly and prevents sllpplng The easiest way to make a skirt is to Bew all of the scams and press tliem, except tho back one. Bind this on each side and leave open until the skirt Is entirely finished, even to the band. When fitting simply pin it together. to-gether. You will find the work much easier to have It open in this way and the binding prevents its stretching. To keep a bias seam from sagging Eew tho seam by mnchlne, then stretch it with your fingers ns much as the material will permit, allowing the thread to break. Now sew the seam again, keeping it well stretched all the time. This plan may be applied ap-plied lo any fabric, but It is especially especial-ly good for wash materials, and a cotton cot-ton or a linen skirt carefully sewed iu this way will not sag at the sides or back. |
