Mrs, Alta Strcbel opens gift presented by the Lambda Delta Sigma Sig-ma following her receipt of special honors. Alda Strebel honored by Sorority An SUSC all iwomen's devotional, devo-tional, sponsored by Lambda Delta Sigma LDS sorority, iwas held recently at the Institute chaipel. Alda Strebel was hon. ored by the sorority she advised ad-vised here for several years. She talked to the college women wo-men and played a special organ or-gan solo. A high-light was when Ruth Humphries and Ann Meyers, officers of Lambda Delta Sigma, Sig-ma, presented her with an original quilt, designed by Lonna Bryan. Momlbers of Psi and Qmicron chapters of the sorority have been quilting and preparing the quilt lor same time. Centered in the surprise quilt Is the aippliqued words, AN ELECT LADY. This title was won by Alda Strebel at the Salt Lake Latter Day Saint Student Association convention conven-tion last (fall. This honor was presented by Elaine Cannon at that time. The Elect Lady award Is given once a year to one of the women nominated Iby Lambda Delta Sigma sororities throughout the Intermountain Region. It is based on the five Ideals I the sorority: Spirituality, Spirit-uality, Sisterhood, Scholarship, Scholar-ship, Supporting Role of Wo-' men, and Service. Past recipients recip-ients of the coveted award has been the late Jessee Ev-ans Ev-ans Smith and Mrs, Boyd K. Packer. A Fireside, sponsored by Delta Phi fraternity was held simultaneous Sunday night, honoring Dr. George Strebel, past advisor to that organization. organiza-tion. The Strebels moved to Logan, Lo-gan, this past fall. 'Dr. Strebel is an instructor at the Utah State University LDS Institute of Religion working with the graduate program. |
