Show ELECTIVE SYSTEM TO ; BE INAUGURATED IN II! Vincipal Henry Peterson of the Ogden high school, in an interview today regarding his letter of resignation resigna-tion to the board of education, said that he was leaving the Ogden school only for the reason that he could car-1 car-1 ry out his Ideals in education In the f Jordan high school. The reason for this, he said, was that the Jordan had a splendid campus, a large gym-1 gym-1 nasium and adequate iron and woon t working shops and, he was also ln-1 ln-1 formed by the directors of that I school, that they had plenty of funds t to meet all requirements needed to make a first class school, f He said that he had a sincere feel- ing of friendship for the Ogden city I hoard of education, the superintend-l superintend-l ent and the people here, but that at the Ogden high school, with its pres-! pres-! ent equipment, he was handicapped In his wofk. The school, he said, i needs a gymnasium and a large cani-t cani-t pus badly," along with other additions I to the industrial departments and he I hoped that these things would soon I be added. He was asked if the half-day scs- slon would be Inaugurated at the J Jordan high school and answered in 7T I the negative, stating that the students stu-dents of the school have to come long distances on the street cars or by stage and had, therefore, to remain re-main in school all day. The elective system, he said, would be used, as that was the. best way to develop the Individual talents of the students stu-dents and he did not desire to hamper ham-per them by a recourse to the rigid systems of the past. nn |
