Mudge, former general manager of the , Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fo railway, jand one of the best known railroad ;men in this country, died here today. Mr. Mudge was stricken with a cerebral cere-bral hemorrhage on Monday night last. Ho was Gt years old. j From walerboy to general manager or the Santa Fe is tho story of Mr. Mudge's rise in railroad work. He 'went to work for the railroad in Kan-'sas Kan-'sas in- 1S72 and before he left its serv-vice serv-vice in 1005 lie had served five years as its general manager. In 1905 Mr. Mudge became vice president of the I Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Rail-way Rail-way company and was elected presi-;dent presi-;dent of that road four years later. Coming lo Denver in 1915 as president presi-dent of tho Denver & lllo Grande Railway company. Mr. Mudge served in that capacity until two years ago when he retired. oo |
