Show I BITIIlliiElI FU1CIPI1IS EXTENDED W James H. Douglas, chairman of Ihe ?f Weber county monument fund com- J J mittee, has been notified by B. H. J I j Roberts, president of the slate monu- 1- ment commission, that the campaign if ; has been extended until February 15 : , in order to meet the desire of the va- 1 ; rious committees to fully complete the m "work of raising Hie required amount. The Salt Lake City commission, ac- gjl cording to Mr. Roberts, has promised j a substantial contribution to the fund. , : In his letter of notification to com-I com-I j mittee chairmen. Mr. Roberts writes: ' . "This is to inform you thai, at the ill solicitation of a number of chairmen 7 1 in various parts of the stale and, in 'J! : districts outside the state of Utah, the i- Mormon battalion monument commis- I sion has decided to extend the moun- ment fund drive to February 15. This -I P is owing to the fact, that in some dis Si - Itricts the work was not begun at as ! early a date as ihe plans called for. In other cases, the appearance of in-' fluenza has hindered the progress and especially the closing of Jie drive during the last e.'ght or len days. . I "By extending the time of the drive to February 15, it will give the chairmen chair-men of all the districts an opportunity opportu-nity to gather up all the loose odds and ends of the 'campaign, including the completion of Ihe canvass of the corporations in our cities and larger towns; also, tne reports on the result from the battalion balls that will have been held by February 15 can be had, ' and -thus we may hope for a clean sweep to be made by the time extension exten-sion proposed. Since the time limit for the Mormon battalion history composition compo-sition contest has been extended to the same date, that, loo, may be included : in the clean up. |
