Show I TROUBLE WITH NICARAGUA Something That Could Be Overcome I By a Little Diplomacy uL wasnmgion juec aine department of state is about to press to the end the issue that has been raised between I and the government of Nicaragua growing out of the refusal of Nicaragua to receive a United States minister in the person of Captain Merry of California fornia Dr Hunter of Kentucky who has been appointed minister to Guatemala Guate-mala and Honduras was at the state department today and having received his final instructions will sail from New York on the 20th inst He goes to Guatemala City the capital of Guatemala Guate-mala but as his case is in many respects re-spects similar to that of Captain Merry Mer-ry it is probable that he will be confined con-fined in his ministry to that country and will not be received in Honduras I to which country he is also credited In that case Honduras also will be without a legation The trouble arises from the fact that I when the greater republic was formed it was agreed among the party nations that their relations be conducted through a diet and they insisted that ministers from other countries should I be accredited to this diet Congress I had divided the mission of Central America in such a fashion that each of the two missions included a country within and one without the greater republic re-public This fact was repugnant to the nations in the league |
