George Puckett, high school band instructor, goes over the scores with two of his students, Lewis StaJlings and Jay Grant Christiansen. 1iFowIes teaches a special arithmetic class to Gordon K Albert Frisby, Joann Miller and Russell King. Teacher Sandra Harmon gains the interest of Vicky Tit-comb, Tit-comb, Anne Westerwell, Jackie Shipp, Charles Hjorth and Ricky Sundbloom enrolled in special reading class. School District has a snsive summer school 1 which has provided if-Uinity for students to ,te in a number of school activities, it lliounced this week. U than 220 students of iry school age have 5sses in reading and (tic. In the reading ll developmental skills were stressed as were the basic ba-sic fundamentals in arithmetic. These classes were taught at the Grant School by Sandra Harmon and Robert Fowles. Children with speech and hearing difficulty are receiving help from Carol Witbeck and William Rust, Nebo School District speech correctionist. There are 85 children enrolled in this program. Band instruction is offered to interested beginning students stud-ents as well as junior and senior sen-ior high school band members. These classes are under the direction of the band teachers in the various communities, with George Puckett teaching in Springville. The Central Utah Vocational School has an outstanding program pro-gram with 110 junior and senior sen-ior high school students from Nebo School District participating. partici-pating. These students are enrolled en-rolled in such classes as: vocational vo-cational business, health services, ser-vices, electricity, electronics, drafting, power machines and machine shop. Bus transportation transporta-tion is provided from the various var-ious communities to the Vocational Voca-tional School. Nebo School District is also participating with the cities in the recreational programs of the various communities in the District. This includes such activities ac-tivities as baseball, dancing, arts and crafts, swimming and baton twirling. |
