Show . sS ' ' : ; I? 1 Guy H. Ivins files for assessor post Guy H. Ivins, 182 North 5th East, American Fork, today annouced his candidacy for reelection re-election as Utah County Assessor As-sessor on the Democratic ticket. tick-et. Mr. Ivins was elected to his present post in the fall of 1958. Since that time he has made many improvements in the Assessor's office, including the introduction of the county "License-by-Mail" program. The program was first started start-ed by Mr. Ivins in 1960 to facilitate fa-cilitate the handling of more than 15,000 plates, processed anually in the county by the Guy II. Ivins to obtain their plates by mail. Mr. Ivins was born in 1927 and received his early schooling school-ing in Provo. He graduated from ' Murray High School and fom Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree de-gree in Economics. He is a member of the LDS Church. He is married to the former for-mer Norma Wells and they have two boys. assessor's office. Previous to the enactment of the mail program, long lines of vehicle owners waiting to pay their taxes and receive their license plates were an annual occurance in the City and County Building in Provo. Now, the long lines are' gone, and only a small percentage of truck and auto owners are required to go to the City and County Building for their plates. More than 90 percent of the auto owners in the county coun-ty are offered the opportunity |
