Burton of Og-den Og-den today announced his candidacy can-didacy for the Republican nomination to the U.S. House of Representatives from Utah's First Congressional District. No other Republican candidate candi-date has announced for the sprawling First District that includes 25 of Utah's 29 counties. coun-ties. Mr. Burton has served for the past two and one half years as Administrative Assistant As-sistant to Governor George D. Clyde. Prior to that he was Assistant Assist-ant Professor of political science at Weber College. For two years he served former Congressman H. Aldous Dixon as his Legislative Assistant As-sistant in Washington. Before joining the staff of Representative Dixon, Mr. Burton Bur-ton was an assistant professor of political science at Weber College from which he graduated gradu-ated in 1948. He received a bachelor degree in political science from the University of Utah in 1951 and a masters begree from Utah State University Uni-versity in 1956. He has completed com-pleted additional g r a duate work at George Washington and Georgetown Universities. In recent years he has been active in community affairs. mm : v : He has served terms as a director di-rector of the College-Community Theatre Board, Weber College Col-lege Alumni Board, Ogden Quarterback Club and was active ac-tive for several years in Junior Jun-ior Chamber of Commerce affairs. af-fairs. He and his family are active members of the LDS Ogden 55th Ward. A veteran of World War II, Burton served in the Naval Air Corps. For ten years he edited the national magazine for the National Na-tional Junior College Athletic Association and was cited by the group this year for his service to JuCo athletics. Lawrence J.
