Burton of Og-de- n today announced his can-didacy for the Republican nomination to the U.S. House of Representatives from Utah's First Congressional District. No other Republican candi-date has announced for the sprawling First District that includes 25 of Utah's 29 coun-ties. Mr. Burton has served for the past two and one half years as Administrative As-sistant to Governor George D. Clyde. Prior to that he was Assist-ant Professor of political science at Weber College. For two years he served former Congressman H. Aldous Dixon as his Legislative As-sistant in Washington. Before joining the staff of Representative Dixon, Mr. Bur-ton was an assistant professor of political science at Weber College from which he gradu-ated in 1948. He received a bachelor degree in political science from the University of Utah in 1951 and a masters begree from Utah State Uni-versity in 1956. He has com-pleted additional g r a duate work at George Washington and Georgetown Universities. In recent years he has been active in community affairs. mm : v : He has served terms as a di-rector of the College-Communi- ty Theatre Board, Weber Col-lege Alumni Board, Ogden Quarterback Club and was ac-tive for several years in Jun-ior Chamber of Commerce af-fairs. Springville man in electronics A Springville man, Don Bell, has been admitted as a student at the Salt Lake School of Electronics after successfully completing the school's en-trance examinations. A graduate of Springville High School, Don is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bell, 740 South 4th East.
