Show Spring City Blain Funeral Is Described The funeral services held Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon in the ward chapel for Mrs. Christena Blain were very impressive and largely attended. Many relatives and friends from other communities were among those attending as well as the family of Mrs. Blain. Bishop Reid H. Allred presided and the choir sang the opening song, "Sister Thou Wast Mild and Lovely" conducted by E. B. Terry. A ladies double trio comprised com-prised of Mrs. Elva Aired, Mrs. Elda Acord, Mrs. Lafern Jensen, Mrs. Lola Watson, Mrs Iva Aiken Aik-en and Mrs. Flossie Blain sang "Prayer Perfect". A baritone solo, "Going Home" was sung by a grandson, Donald Fullmer, accompanied by Miss Carol Terryi Two tenor solo; were sung by a grandson, Marlin Williams Wil-liams of Salt Lake city with Miss Terry accompanying. The invocation invo-cation and benediction were by Elmer Simmons, Manti and La-mont La-mont Jensen. Speakers and those giving tribute to Mrs. Blain spoke of the many wonderful things they had derived from Mrs. Blain. "Her life was real and she made use of the fine things. She did not postpone living. She dearly loved children. She assisted others to understand the important im-portant teachings of J-esus Christ. Caring for the flower arrangements at the ch1 were Mrs. Vanda Petersen, Mrs. Ada Ellis and Mrs. Adelaide Thompsen. Interment in the city cemetery was under the direction di-rection of the Ursenbach Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. The grave was dedicated by Vivian Larsen. Attending the recent MIA convention con-vention held at Salt Lake city were Ward MIA officers: Mrs. Iva Aiken, Mrs. La Vee Draper, Mrs. Elva Allred, Mrs. Vurleen Osborne, Mrs. Sylvia Neilsen, Mrs. Frank Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Cutler Schofield and Virgus Osborne. Accompanying the group were Mr. Watson and Mrs Osborne. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Terry of Logan spent the past week visiting visit-ing with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Terry. Mr. and Mrs. Devon Osborne and small daughter of Boise, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neilsen and small daughter of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Therald Rigby Rig-by and baby of Hiawatha and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tucker and children of Sunnyside were home with their' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne over the weekend Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne spent Wednesday and Thursday in Provo. Miss Leila Ruth Allred and Miss Yvonne Aiken employed at Provo were weekend visitors with their parents. m m Mrs. Fay Ivory of Salt Lake city was a visitor the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Blain. Karen McKinney is visiting in California with her sister, Mrs. Bill Tobin and family. Primary president, Mrs. Lib-bie Lib-bie Allred and Bishop Reid H. Allred are supervising the renovation reno-vation and redecorating of a room for the kindergarten class. Bishop Allred has built several new tables for the children, together to-gether with coat closets, book closets and shelves, a large blackboard and reading shelves and toy closets. This week the Primary officers offi-cers will paint and decorate the room and furniture. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Allred of Preston, Nevada, visited last week with their mother, Mrs. Trena Black and several brothers broth-ers and sisters in this city Before Be-fore returning home they will visit in Provo and Salt Lake city. The Ward Bishopric will make a special request to have Ward members respond to the donation of their Sunday eggs. Girls from the LDS girls organization will make the district calls to collect the contributions. Proceeds are to be used to paint and remodel the Ward chapel auditorium and class rooms. Fathers of the Ward were paid tribute in the Sacrament Serivoes Sunday evening. The Relief Society had the program in charge. President Eva Grace Allred conducted. The program numbers were: Sermonette, Neva Beck; piano duet, Yvonne and Patsy Schofield; tribute, Mrs. Eva J. Allred; saxophone solo, Leo Osborne; reading, Barney Erickson; vocal solo, Dwane Blain; tribute, to father, David Hope, and response, Rudolph Hope; piano solo, Ruth Ellis. Mrs. Ardith Johnson and sons of Twin Falls, Idaho, are visiting visit-ing with Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ellis, parents of Mrs. Johnson. The YMMIA and the Priesthood are completing a selection of players for the Softball team. They will enter the North Sanpete San-pete Stake softball league games Mr. and Mrs Joseph I. Beck were Salt Lake city visitors Monday. |
