Show Tanned Guard Returns From Camp Sunday Battery A, 145 FA Bn , Sanpete's San-pete's finest, did itself proud at the annual 15-day encampment of the Utah National Guard completed Saturday at Camp Williams, Jordan Narrows. This was the word brought back by officers and men alike from the rigorous training period. per-iod. It was agreed that Col. George Latimer, chief of staff, hit the nail on the head when ho said, "We had more equipment equip-ment and a better spirit than ever before." Capt. Clayton Hke, commanding command-ing officer of the Mt. Pleasant guard unit, said the outfit received re-ceived several compliments from top officers of the encampment for its spit and polish. Battery A. returned to Mt. Pleasant Sunday about noon from the 15-day affair. The men were tanned and perhaps leaner than two weeks previously previous-ly when they changed civvies for the uniform. Following the encampment, it was announced that Captain Fike is relinquishing command to enter active duty with the Air Force in July. His successor has not been officially announced an-nounced according to Major Gordon Staker, executive officer offi-cer of the 145th with headquarters headquar-ters at Provo. |
