Show JAYCEES HEAR REPORT ON DALLAS CONFAB Drive Is Now Under Way By Junior Chamber To Bring Membership Past Fifty Mark Grant Thorn, president, Kay Johnson, secretary, and Glenn Hansen, Han-sen, immediate past president, of the Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce, gave a complete and interesting report of the national convention of the Jaycees held in Dallas, Texas, recently at the meeting of the local organization Wednesday evening at the Chicken Roost. Stating that "the Junior Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce has numerous men in key positions in the nation's na-tion's war councils," Mr. Thorn also added, "the convention was an imposing discussion of the changes made through the war effort, ef-fort, and the Jaycees were wholly united in offering their services to bring to a hasty and successful end the great world-wide struggle in. which the whole earth is involved." Kay Johnson outlined various procedures followed at the convention conven-tion and told of several suggess-tions suggess-tions that were made for the betterment bet-terment of the various clubs. Mr. Hansen stated that the entertainment entertain-ment provided for the delegates and visitors was of the highest type and was greatly enjoyed by the thousands attending. After stating that the club should exert every effort to have representatives at every national convention, Mr. Thorn presented a plan for starting a convention fund for next year, which was accepted ac-cepted unanimously by the membership. mem-bership. Three new members Clifford Beardall, Sidney Russell, and Sherman Sher-man Nielson were welcomed into the club and presented their pins. The membership now totals thirty-eight, thirty-eight, and a drive has begun now to bring the membership to fifty-one fifty-one or over before the state convention con-vention in Salt Lake City in September. Sep-tember. The sports committee will have the next meeting in charge, and they have planned a trip on the "Show Boat" on Utah lake. |
