The commissioner expressed appreciation ap-preciation for the support in the past of all the people, and also that of the many county employees. employ-ees. All of the departments of the county have cooperated magnificently, magnifi-cently, he said, and this cooperation coopera-tion has enabled the commission to carry out its vast improvement program, to provide new services to the people, and at the same time keep expenses down. One of the highlights of Mr. Johnson's administration has been the paying off of all indebtedness against the county. Approximately $400,000 in bonds have been paid off since he took office. The liquidation liquid-ation of a large accumulation of auditor's tax deeds, operating on a cash basis without borrowing on tax anticipation, building hundreds of miles of roads, taking advantage of government grants for improvement improve-ment proects, all are among the accomplishments ac-complishments to which Mr. Johnson's John-son's backers point with pride. The county infirmary has been completely renovated and modernized modern-ized since Mr. Johnson took office and the county participated with Provo city in purchasing the old Provo city post office building, which was made to house the city offices, thus giving more office space for both units of government. govern-ment. Mr. Johnson has lived in Utah nearly all of his life, except for a few years spent in Idaho. He served serv-ed on the Spanish Fork city council, coun-cil, and has always been active in civic and political circles.
