Because of the fact that it might be too cold in the canyon for an outing, Lion Bud has made arrangements to have our meeting at the grove in Fairmont park. In case you do not know where the grove is, you reach it by driving in from the west entrance of the park. Arrangements have been made to serve a fine dinner to all Lions and Lionesses, in attendance. attend-ance. Remember, this is the meeting at which we are to honor hon-or our president by having 100 per cent attendance. To make sure that we have enough to serve every one, reservations must be made with the attendance attend-ance committee. While we are on the subject of the September dinner meeting, meet-ing, it might be well to quote from a letter from District Gov. Lloyd M. Theurer: "Dear Lion Secretary: The week of Sept. 9, has been designated desig-nated throughout the International Interna-tional association as 100 per1 cent attendance week. Each Lions club during that week should endeavor en-deavor to attain perfect attendance attend-ance to honor its president and to get off to a good start in the new year's work. "Think what .a fine gesture it would be to your president to have EVERY member present for this meeting in his honor." The foregoing is a challenge to every Lion throughout the international in-ternational organization and it would be wonderful to prove to Governor Lloyd and to President Arch Aldous that we as indivd-ual indivd-ual members are behind them 100 per cent. I The Salt Lake County fair is over and rhe Holladay Lions j brought home first prize for our fruit and vegetable exhibit. President Arch and his committee commit-tee deserve a lot of credit for the outstanding job they did on this project. For the past few weeks we have been calling your attention to the fact that starting in September Sep-tember we enter the international internation-al and district attendance contests. con-tests. Points in the district contest con-test will be given according to the percentage of attendance each month. As you are already aware, you must have 100 attendance at-tendance to win an individual attendance pin. In view of the fact that we are striving to have 100 at our first meeting in September to honor President Arch, now is the time to make a promise to yourself that you ' will make an honest effort to have 100 attendance for the year. I know that nothing would please International and President Presi-dent Arch more than to award each member of our club a pin for 100. attendance. We wish to extend birth- ! day greetings to the following members whose birthdays come during the month of September: Phil Debs, Sept. 1; Henry Florence, Sept. 5; W. K. Hammond, Sept. 6; William Wil-liam Neff, Sept. 9; Mel Wright, Sept. 9; Web Richards. Sept. 19; J. L. Linton, Sept. 12; Owen Nichol, Sept. 30. The club regrets to announce that Lion E. 'n. Howard is moving mov-ing to Arizona and is transfer-ing transfer-ing his membership. Lion Howard How-ard was a charter member of club and we will miss him, but we wish him all the success in the world in his sojourn to Arizona. Ari-zona. The stork paid a visit to the home of Lion and Lioness Ken Sutherland over the week-end and left them a fine baby boy. Our congratulations. Lion Geo. Ault has been ill for some time and we regret that we have just heard of it, but we want to express our wishes for a speedy recovery. The September meeting of the Ladies auxiliary will be held Sent. 24th at. A'ndv's. That is the new eating establishment just opened on Holladay Blvd., and 47th South. Lioness Roy Hobbs informs me that the proposed pro-posed .constitution and by-laws of the auxiliary will be presented present-ed for approval at this meet- ing, also a discussion on pro-proposed pro-proposed projects will occupy part of the evening. If you have not already signified your intention in-tention of joining the auxiliary you should contact either Lioness Lion-ess Hobbs or Lioness Glen Barber Bar-ber at once. The regular monthly meeting of the board of directors will be held Thursday Sept. 19. The time and place will be announced an-nounced at our regular dinner meeting. Lion Bud White has changed the plans for our September dinner meeting since our last issue. Because of the fact that I s o m e of the fellows felt |
