Recognition of the musical ability and background of William Wil-liam LeGrand Maxwell, widely known musician of the general music committee of the LDS church, A son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Maxwell of Highland Park ward, Mr. Maxwell has (' - , j I - Aujuutt tor',. & ttZiaA been a leaaing figure in Lcoal musical circles for many j'ears, and throughout the war has been in charge of outstanding i service musical and dramatic I presentations both in this country coun-try and abroad. Educated locally, he was graduated grad-uated from . the University of Utah in 193G, after which he studied with leading musicians of this country as well as abroad. Salt Lakers particularly particular-ly remember his work as organizer organ-izer and director of the Madrigal Singers in 1942, a group whir" attained widespread fame in concert and radio performances. He took his master's degree at the University of Idaho and was later music supervisor in the public schools at Mesa, Ariz. In his new position Mr. Max- APPOINTED William Le- , Grand Maxwell, well known southeast musician, named coordinator co-ordinator for the general music committee of the LDS church. |
