Show University Set For Opening Of Record Year University of Utah officials are setting final plans to accommodate accom-modate a record enrollment of students this fall. According to Dr. A. Ray Ol-pin, Ol-pin, president , almost eight thousand students will enroll at the state university during the coming year. More than five thousand- of these will be veterans veter-ans attending "college under the G.I. bill of rights. THe university's physical plant and teaching staff have been greatly enlarged to accom- 1 modate the influx of students. More than fifty additional class rooms will be available at Ft. Douglas in the large administration administra-tion annex recently acquired by the university. r To provide additional housing facilities, a group of 350 apartments apart-ments for married veterans is rapidly nearing completion on the campus, while the former WAC barracks at Ft. Douglas is being converted into a dormitory for two hundred single veterans Autumn quarter activity at the university will begin on Monday, Sept. 23, with English and college aptitude tests for all new students. A freshman assembly as-sembly will be held the following follow-ing day. Entering freshman students stu-dents will register on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with all other students registering Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, Sept. 27 and 28. Class work begins on Monday, Sept. 30. The autumn quarter will end on Dec. 20. |
