Show Red tape could be cut by office move Not that red tape is the biggest problem facing Iron County residents. And not that we don't really need the exercise. But an option is facing a couple of the levels of government locally where they could make life a little easier for taxpayers and vehicle owners. Now that the city has completed their move from the city-county building, ;56 East;Lincoln,v Cedar City, we see no reason why the State Tax Commission could not combine their service with the County Assessor in the half-vacated half-vacated building. It's not the easiest thing in the world as it is to successfully transfer title, pay property taxes and obtain vehicle plates in a limited time. The move to the county building by the tax people would reduce the hassle just a bit. Again, it wouldn't be like eliminating an entire cabinet office of-fice or cutting the White House staff by a third, but when it comes to elimination of red tape, every little bit helps. . JIaving, .the offices mentioned 1 combined will enable residents to get questions answered quicker and to get a better "feel" for the corelation between the two offices. The future of the county jail building is still somewhat debatable, but for the time being the move looks advantageous. |
