Show Ranch of "Lucky" Baldwin Locale for "Hottentot" The famous Baldwin ranch, scene of many colorful events in horse racing rac-ing and training in the days of "Lucky" Baldwin, once more flaunted its racing banners in the bi-eeze and echoed to thundering hoofs, while enthusiastic en-thusiastic crowds lustily cheered their favorites. For this historic spot was used as one of the miajor locations for Warner Bros.' all-talking Vitaphone phone production, "The Hottentot," now playing at the Victory Theatre. Famous as a millionaire sportsman, follower of the race track and owner of some of the world's most noted steeds, "Lucky" Baldwin held the center cen-ter of the stage in Western horse racing rac-ing not so many years ago. His huge ranch in Arcadia, California, Califor-nia, now owned by his heirs, is one of the most picturesque places in the Southland. It furnished an ideal spot to film the thrilling steeplechase scenes scen-es in "The Hottentot," according to Roy Del Ruth, the director. Principals in the cast of "The Hottentot," Hot-tentot," who take part in the racing-sequences racing-sequences of this Vitaphone adaptation adapta-tion of the celebrated Mapes-Collier stage comedy, are (in addition to Horton) Hor-ton) Patsy Ruth Miller, Edmund Breese, Edward "Earle, Sanley Taylor, Otto Hoffman, Douglas Gerrard and Maude Turner Gordon.
