Show l!:ss Meeting To Launch State-Vlide ::t X-E!ay Program In County A Ejsevelt mass meeting to t ui in conjunction with the ! : s-ray program now being i ..ltd" throughout the st6te. I wai scheduled for July 27 I i p. m. in the Roosevelt I ' house, under the direc- 1 about chest diseases and other j public health problems and to ' appoint community chairmen I and committees. I Sponsors of the health survey within tins area have been designated des-ignated as the Duchesne County HeaUh council, of which Mr. "LiU.vti " is " president, with Dr. R. V. Larson, county physician and Mrs. Evelyn Johnson, public healih nurse, as members. Tnu group will work in cooperation with the Utah State Department of Health in planning the x-ray program for Duchesne county. A mobile x-ray unit will arrive in this area about August 24. It is hoped that at least 300 people a day, who are 15 years of age or older, will take advantage of this free x-ray opportunity. A tentative schedule for the portable x-ray unit is as follows: fol-lows: Duchesne, Aug. 24-26, to serve the communities of Duchesne, Du-chesne, Strawberry, Fruitland, and Utahn, total population about 1,300; Roosevelt, Aug. 28 1-31, and Sept. 1-2, to serve the j communities of Roosevelt, Ne-ola, Ne-ola, Montwel, and Ioka, total population, approximately 3,000. The mobile x-ray unit is also scheduled to serve Tabiona, Al-tamont, Al-tamont, Myton, and surrounding surround-ing communities. The' x-rays are for the purpose pur-pose of determining cases of tuberculosis, heart disease, cancer can-cer of the lung, and other chest abnormalities, and to refer each positive case to the private physician phy-sician of the patient's choice. The project merely screens out suspicious cases from among the apparently healthy population. popula-tion. Examinations and diagnosis diagnos-is of such cases are the responsibility respon-sibility of private physicians. Within six weeks after x-rays are taken, a confidential report will be mailed to each person x-rayed. If his chest appears normal, he will be so informed. If any abnormality appears, he will be advised that the findings are being sent to his personal physician. The reason for sending send-ing positive reports to a physician physi-cian is to make sure that a person per-son needing medical advice gets it at once from a qualified person. |
