Show Ephraim Educator Succeeds Floyd Holm As Superintendent Of County Schools Dean Christensen, president of the Utah State Secondary Teachers' association and president presi-dent of the Cache Principals' association, as-sociation, will arrive in Duchesne Du-chesne immediately after July 21 to assume his new duties as superintendent of the Duchesne county school district. At a special meeting of the Board of Education, July 8, Mr. Christensen was appointed to succeed Floyd S. Holm, who had earlier resigned to become principal of Pleasant Grove high school. Until July 21 Mr. Christensen will be in summer school at the University of Utah, where he is currently working toward his Doctorate in educational administration. ad-ministration. Upon his arrival he will work with Mr. Holm until the end of the month getting get-ting acquainted with county school facilities. Mr. Christensen was, at the time of his appointment, principal prin-cipal of Wellsville Jr. high school. Born Feb. 25, in Ephraim, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Christensen, he attended the Ephraim public schools, and graduated from Ephraim high school in 1931 and from Snow college in 1933. After attending the Utah State Agricultural college col-lege from 1933-34, he taught at Ephraim Jr. high school from 1934-37. In 1938 he obtained his B.S. degree from U.S.A.C., and did supervisory teaching at the college col-lege from 1938-42, when he went into the United States Marine Corps, for three years, serving in the Pacific theatre of war. Mr. Christensen . taught at Moroni high school in 1946, after af-ter which he moved to Logan and completed his Masters' Degree De-gree in Educational administration. administra-tion. Then he became principal of Wellsville Jr. high school, where he has remained since. In 1944 Mr. Christensen married mar-ried the former Afton Nielson, of Ephraim. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen Chris-tensen now have three children Jed, 5; Sherrie Ann, 3; and Kim Niel, 5 months. |
