Show 1 800 Utes Joan Bra Sun Dance Rites I Nearly 800 Ute Indians and visiting Indians from Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, and Colorado ended their traditional Sun dance Monday noon with a beef feast. The ceremonial dance to the sun began Saturday in a brush-covered brush-covered enclosure at the Utes ceremonial grounds between Ne-ola Ne-ola and Whiterocks. Sixteen to 30 dancers, clad in ceremonial dress, danced 'round the clock during the three-day ceremonial. The summer's second Sun dance will be held Aug. 5-8 at the Sun dance grounds. |
