Show Oil Strike At Carter Ute Tribal No. 2 Expected Momentarily No Official Comment To Rumors Well Already In; Core Test In Progress May Show Decisive Results Drillers at the Carter Oil Co. Ute Tribal No. 2 well, located center NW SE, Sec 21-1S-1E, about 7V2 air miles northeast of Roosevelt, may have been on the verge Thursday morning of bringing in an oil well. Late Wednesday and throughout through-out Thursday, July 20, the crew had been"- in-coring with a 50 ft. core. The .results of this test might well indicate the future Srcatness of the Ute Tribal No. 2, according to Verne Farmer, Carter Oil geologist, Vernal. However, Mr. Farmer would not predict how this well looks as a producer in comparison with the Ute Tribal No. 1, located lo-cated one mile west of the present pres-ent well, which came in in June 1950. "It's too early to tell yet," he said. From oil showings recovered early in the week, there is little lit-tle doubt in the minds of many around Roosevelt that the Ute Tribal No. 2 has been brought in. The only question they are interested in now is how big a producer it will be.
